This strange looking creature(Gasteruptiid wasp,female) has a very long ovipositor(specialized organ for depositing eggs ).
After mating, the females seek out the nests of solitary bees and wasps in sandy soil or inside stems or wood.Eggs are laid in the nest and the larvae eat the eggs and the food store left for the host bee larvae.Photographed in our garden.
